When it comes to Team Shocker Racing, the design prototype process started early last year. In the very beginning of the year, I was approached by Chris LaBuguen to do some repair work on his Yamaha R7. After priming it, Aaron Gustafson painted it in a pretty blue. Not long after, their Aprilia 660’s joined the flock. I had the chance to come up with a pretty pearl blue and black look for those bikes. With some tweaking, we had the team colors figured out for the 2026 season.
Did some repair work on 2 of the Aprilia sets. And prepped the third set. When the New Year hit, it was show time! We loaded the 3 sets into the sprinter van, and headed to the paint booth!
The color scheme was nearly the same. Beautiful flashy blue with a hint of pearl, and black. Although we switched out a solid black for a new team slight metallic black.
While baking the parts in an oven after every color, we hit the parts in primer, masked them off, painted the metallic blacks, masked some more. Painted the blue with a dusting of pearl on top. Unmasked all parts, and finished them off in a glossy clear. The process was a long one, yet very well received.
We can’t wait to see all bikes lined up together for their debut at MotoAmerica and appearances racing at ASRA!
HUGE special thanks to ICAFe Companies for their help in providing a nice area, spray booth and oven to get the job done! Love our partnership!
